MSX Super Pac-Man
A downloadable game
This project is a dedicated port of Namco’s Super Pac-Man for the MSX system. While the foundation of this version is based on the Casio PV-2000 title Mr. Packn, this release features significant enhancements, including improved graphics and a newly added main title screen to provide a more polished experience.
Technical highlights include:
- This port is guaranteed to run on all MSX models, ensuring a consistent experience across the entire hardware generation.
1-player and 2-player modes supported.
Unlike its predecessor on the PV-2000, this version utilizes the MSX’s capabilities to deliver cleaner visuals and a nice intro.
Experience the evolution of the Pac-Man formula—collecting keys, unlocking doors, and utilizing the Super Pellet to outmaneuver ghosts—now optimized for your MSX hardware.

The PV-1000 is a quite interesting machine, indeed. Despite it's a very simple machine, it inherits some feature that are pure "arcadish", such as the 3bpp patterns and the PSG with ring modulation. It hasn't sprites by hardware, though.
Even if the PV-1000 and PV-2000 look like similar machines, they aren't at all!
Nice! If only to add this game to my collection of "ports" of games from other MSX-like systems to MSX, which now includes games from ColecoVision, Sega SG-1000, and Spectravideo SVI.
If you know of other games that were exclusive to other non-MSX-but-MSX-like systems, let me know!
