David Jones' Spellbound, finally on MSX
Spellbound is finally here!
It has taken three months of work but it is finally here. Spellbound, the missing Magic Knight title for the MSX system.
The port has been made by disassembling the original ZX Spectrum 48K version and analysing the game logic. Also the graphics have been taken from that version. The music has been taken from the 128K version (for obvious reasons).
The game has been rewritten to take advantage of the MSX hardware capabilities: PSG, hardware sprites, palette change (MSX2), screen shaking (MSX2), etc. It is presented as a 32KB ROM (although 64KB of RAM are still needed) and tape and disk image versions.
I must thank the original game developers, David Jones and Rob Hubbard, for granting me permission to publish this version. They made a masterpiece almost 40 years ago.
